Similar Artist CD Comparision

Although Tommy Sparks falls into the genre of pop I researched music artist that music has an extreme similarity to his music and the two bands that i discovered were the Hot Melts and  Filthy Dukes.

Here are there CD covers below.

• Both feature bold colours but as if they have been toned down.
• they have been computer generated and neither have the artist themselves on the cover
• Again the White seems to be a key colour for text.
• Both are quite simple however the Filthy Dukes cover may only just contain an owl but it is really detail and complex.
• With the Hot melts cover text is the main focus point as it the CD cover consists mostly of text and the Filthy Dukes cover has the image having the majority of the space.
• The Bands names are both found at the top of the CD
• The Filthy Dukes cover has an animal theme running through it specifically focusing on birds as the Hot melts don't really have a theme there cover has more of a sense of quirkiness.

Story Board

Here i have created a story board for  the music video to get a sense of the different shot that will be used. It will included a mixture of both lip sync and narrative. The only problem i faced when creating this story board was that i didn't take into consideration the size of the frame.

Advert Comparison

• All the adverts features the artist at least once and the cd.

• Compared to Rihanna's and Katy's birghtly coloured advert  Lady Gaga has gone for something different and white and black theme which is often referred to the olden days
• White text seems the be a key colour as it is present in all the adverts
• Rihanna and Katy both have a double page spread advert as lady Gaga has a full page.
• Rihanna features minimal text on the advert as katy and Lady Gaga have alot of text compared.
• Lady Gaga has strayed from the typical picture of an artist as she hase broken the advert into three sections which i really like.
• Lady Gaga and Rihanna have kept the colour tones quite similar making compliment the information as Katy Perry has used variation of colours which distracts from the information.

Brief Comparison of Cd covers

In class today we looked at few different cd covers shown below and made a few notes.

• All of the cds tend to reflect the genre of music they fall into and have the artist on the front
• Taylor swift and beyonce have simple covers as in there not hidden message as the other two have a bit more of a message.
• Both Marilyn and Taylor feature bold and bright colors how ever they are very opposite colours.
• Compared to taylors and beyonce simple studio setting  Eminem and Marilyn both have settings.
• All the artist face the camera however Eminem has it back to the camera
• Beyoncé has taken a different approach to the rest the angle of the camera is low looking up rather the normal eye level hight
• Both Taylor and Beyoncé fall into the pop and their covers only consists of them and little text
• Beyoncé is the only one out of all the cover who is sexualized.

Casting and Actors

Emma Hill:  Will play girl 2. I have chosen Emma because she is very reliable bubbly and out going. She also is part of an performing arts group which will help when acting in the music video

Lewis Adey: The main guy. I felt that Lewis would really suit the part because he is an amazing performer which is important in this music video as we are including a narrative throughout the video. He also reliable and fits the part physically too.

Aishah Baig- Plays the part of Girl 1. Again Aishah is a great performer she also dances and is trust worthy and available. She fun and loud and confident which will be an advantage when shooting the music video.

Alice Waugh: Playing the role of girl 3. Alice is very reliable and trustworthy. although can be shy as a performer she's a good actor from previous experience and also fits the part physically. Her girly personality is the sort of thing i wanted to be expressed in the music video.

Experimental session with Photoshop

Above is the 6 panel Digi pack that i downloaded and was just adding a few bits to it to have a feel of what it's like to work with the template and get used to some of the functions when creating the real thing.

Experimental short Story board

Pre introduction by zahra-aliyah on GoAnimate

I found this site online and you get a free trial of thirty seconds so I thought I would experiment with the pre introduction that will feature at the start of the music video. I took one and a half hours to create this but I had to use the characters which were unlocked so therefore the appearance wont be the same in the music video but it will follow a similar story line settings and concept.
